In this Send Large Files screen cast, I review YouSendIt Lite which is a free service from YourSendIt.com. The service seems simple to use, although it has lots of advertising in the free version. I also encountered a system busy problem when I tried to download the test file transfer during the screen cast. They system came back to life a little while later and I was able to download the file. The Lite version allows you to send up to 100MB files for free, with up to 1GB of downloads. YouSendit also offers a $9.99 per month pro account that provides more capacity and a business account for $29.99 per month that provides both more capacity and some extra security features. I will review the business account in another Send Large Files videocast.
Overall, the upside is that the service is free and relatively easy to use. The Lite service is an alternative worth considering if you have some casual file transfer requirements that don’t require security and privacy on the files as the download page may be picked up by search engines.
